Crossing at Arizona Border:
If you are crossing at the Arizona/Mexico border, the border towns will be called Lukeville, AZ and Sonoyta, Mexico.
Be sure and not exceed the speed limit through the town of Sonoyta.
After driving straight, the road will curve to the right. After Approx. 1/4 mile you will have the option to go straight or turn left at a Y in the road.
Turn Left here.
After you cross the bridge you will see a main intersection or a T in the road.
Turn Right.
You will now proceed straight until you are out of the town of Sonoyta.
Before you reach the town of Rocky Point there will be a bridge that you can cross over.
Be sure to exit before crossing the bridge.
You will turn Right, on the West side of the bridge.
You will drive for less than 1 mile and come to rail road tracks. Stop and cross slowly.
You will then see a 4 way stop. Turn left. This road will hit a round-about. Keep driving straight south through the round-about.
This road will curve from side to side, which is a measure the town took to control speeding drivers.
You will come to a curve in the road that takes you Right and runs along the line of resorts. The resorts will be to your left.
Crossing at California Border:
Puerto Peñasco can now be easily reached by car along the new Coastal Highway 003. From the US/Mexico border near San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, take Mexico highway 2 east to highway 003 that leads to Santa Clara Gulf. From Santa Clara to Puerto Peñasco it is about 1½ hours. Note: Part of this section is a toll-road.
